Send the product name, manufacturer and item code for each piece requiring assembly. A retailer link and the correct instructions are useful where available. Explain the quantity and any optional elements, such as additional drawers or an internal arrangement, that form part of the product. The quotation should identify the actual work rather than rely on a broad category such as bedroom furniture, which can cover very different packages and assembly requirements.

Confirm whether all packages have arrived. Multi-package products should be checked against the retailer's delivery information before an appointment is treated as ready to proceed. Tell us about visible package damage or a known missing component and contact the seller where needed. Assembly support does not make an incomplete order complete, so resolving delivery issues early helps avoid an appointment that cannot reach the intended finish point.

If you have already started building the item, describe its current state honestly and send photographs. Explain any step that caused difficulty, any damaged part and whether fittings have been mixed or substituted. A partly assembled product needs a different assessment from unopened packages with a full instruction set. Do not keep forcing an uncertain connection or altering components simply because you expect someone else to finish the work later.

Identify the intended room and where the packages are currently stored. Carrying them upstairs or from another building may be an additional part of the requested service. Include that information in the enquiry rather than assuming assembly begins wherever the retailer happened to leave the delivery. The appointment can then be assessed from the actual starting position through to the agreed final location.

Prepare the room for building and using the furniture

Choose the final position before work begins and check the product's dimensions against the available space. Include space needed for doors, drawers and normal access around it. The room may have a different usable area from its overall measurements because of radiators, skirting or other furniture. If you are uncertain whether the product fits, resolve that before commissioning assembly rather than expecting the appointment to turn an unsuitable purchase into a workable layout.

Make an appropriate working area available and explain constraints such as a low ceiling, narrow room or other installation taking place. The manufacturer's instructions may affect how the item is assembled and positioned. Do not assume it can be built elsewhere and moved into place intact. Tell the team about the actual room conditions so the proposed service can account for the available route and working space.

Keep the instructions and all identified fittings accessible, with separate products' parts kept distinct. If the retailer has issued updated instructions or replacement components, include them with the job information. A clear product record helps avoid uncertainty about which version or configuration is being built. Keep children, pets and unrelated household activity away from the agreed work area through arrangements made by the household.

Ask about any wall attachment or installation step specified for the furniture. Confirm who is responsible, whether the proposed service includes it and what assessment or property permission is required. A product should not be treated as ready for use while a required safety step remains unresolved. If that work is arranged separately, record the dependency clearly and follow the manufacturer's instructions about use until completion.

Coordinate assembly with retailer delivery and other work in the room

An estimated retailer delivery date is not the same as a complete set of packages present at the property. Explain the certainty of the delivery when requesting a slot and ask how a change should be reported. If the room is being decorated or floored, ensure that work will leave the agreed space available. Several appointments scheduled tightly together can depend on one another, so identify those dependencies before confirming the assembly visit.

If old furniture must leave before the new item can be assembled, arrange that stage explicitly. Say whether it needs moving to another room, dismantling, transport or a separate disposal service. The assembly quotation should not silently include clearance of whatever occupies the space. A defined sequence gives the new product a prepared position and allows any additional work to be assessed on its own inventory and destination.

Explain whether the furniture is part of a larger move or a stand-alone purchase. When coordinating with removals, identify which rooms need to receive other belongings first and whether the finished item would restrict later access. The best sequence depends on the actual property and load, not a general rule to assemble everything before or after delivery. Give one contact responsibility for approving changes when several people or suppliers are involved.

Agree packaging arrangements and check the completed work

Ask the proposal to state the products and assembly tasks included, the starting location of packages and the final placement. Confirm whether packaging will be gathered, removed or left under an agreed arrangement. Any disposal or additional installation should be identified separately. This helps you compare quotations on a consistent basis and prevents a general assembly price being interpreted as an unlimited service for every task around the room.

At completion, review the agreed work against the product instructions and identify any missing part or outstanding step. Keep the instructions and relevant remaining fittings in a known place. If an issue with supplied components prevents completion, record what remains and agree the next appointment or retailer contact through the booking coordinator. A partially completed item should not be presented as fully ready simply because the scheduled visit has ended.
